Transportation Project of the Year
Texas Public Works Association
2008
City of Pearland, Bailey Road Extension
Freese and Nichols designed a 1.3 mile roadway widening and extension, including a critical railroad overpass. Prior to this, the City had only one overpass. A major portion of the project is in the 100-year floodplain. The FNI team addressed environmental issues in conjunction with the drainage district and designed a temporary crossing to accommodate access to a proposed detention facility. The project affected traffic for three area schools. This was a fast-track project with an aggressive 10-month schedule to have the roadway ready for the school year.
