Freese and Nichols' Design Image Places in National Competition
29 January, 2010A rendering of the City of Fort Worth’s Clearfork Main Street Bridge under design by Fort Worth-based Freese and Nichols placed third in a national digital design competition sponsored by design and engineering technologies services company Avatech Solutions. The rendering by Claudio Branch, 3D visualization coordinator for Freese and Nichols, was one of four images selected as finalists in the Architecture/Building category of the competition.
Branch’s rendering was part of a group of 45 digital renderings chosen from hundreds of entries submitted by designers from around the world. Winning renderings may be viewed on the Avatech website. Branch received $250 in prize money for his third place win, which he donated in honor of the City of Fort Worth to The Women’s Center of Tarrant County, a local nonprofit organization that enables and empowers women to build better futures.
Upon completion in Spring 2011, the new bridge will include a four-lane, 1,800-linear-foot elevated roadway and bridge crossing the Trinity River in southwest Fort Worth. The bridge will accommodate pedestrian and bicycle traffic from the Trinity Trails system on a separate level suspended from the vehicular span and intersecting at trail level.
Freese and Nichols offers 3-D computer capabilities which allow clients to visualize and experience design projects, including animations and “walkthroughs” at any phase of project development.
