Freese and Nichols designed a 1.3-mile roadway widening and extension that included a critical railroad overpass. Prior to this project, the City of Pearland only had one overpass. A major portion of the project was in the 100-year floodplain requiring the team to address various environmental issues including permitting in conjunction with major drainage issues. The project affected traffic for two local schools requiring the project to be fast-tracked with an aggressive 10-month schedule in order to accommodate the school year. The project required coordination with and permitting from BNSF Railroad.
