The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) selected Freese and Nichols to develop its current Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H/H) Guidelines for Dams in Texas. As a result, Freese and Nichols was awarded from the Texas Council of Engineering Companies both the Eminent Conceptor Top Engineering Project in Texas in 2009 and a Gold Medal for Engineering Excellence in 2008.
TCEQ has also tapped Freese and Nichols' dam engineering expertise for more than 500 comprehensive dam safety inspections during the last 12 years. In addition, Freese and Nichols has teamed with TCEQ to present a series of dam safety seminars to help introduce TCEQ's new Dam Safety Rules and H/H Guidelines for Dams in Texas and to outline the process and requirements for meeting the 2010 Emergency Action Plan deadlines.
