Freese and Nichols’ design of the $139-million Eagle Mountain Connection Project enables the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) to meet increasing customer demands. This project lowers the probability of drought in TRWD’s service area from once in 10 years to once in 50 years and forestalls the need for a longer and more expensive additional pipeline.
The raw water transmission facilities include 20 miles of 84- and 96-inch pipeline, two pump stations, two storage tanks, and a reservoir that improves TRWD’s system flexibility and reliability and increase TRWD's available yield of water supply.
This project was awarded the 2008 Gold Medal for Engineering Excellence from the Texas Council of Engineering Companies.
