Freese and Nichols provided architectural, engineering and construction services for the renovation of engineering lab space and construction of a new second floor level. The first floor includes approximately 4,000 square feet of renovated areas, including: two engineering labs (for research and teaching) and a testing space for an owner furnished wind tunnel/environmental chamber. The new second level, approximately 8,800 square feet, is shell space for future labs, but also contains mechanical and electrical areas. New stairs are were constructed to connect these floors.
The project team collaborated effectively with the University of North Texas and their Construction Manager at Risk to meet this schedule. Freese and Nichols also provided electronic renderings of the new lab areas.
