2015 TxDOT Call for Projects – TAP and HSIP

Alex Garcia

TxDOT has posted a call for projects for their 2015 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP). This program has made $52 million available statewide for projects focused on providing alternative means of transportation and is limited to areas with populations under 200,000 outside of urbanized areas. The deadline for this opportunity is May 4 – although areas within Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) boundaries need to request a letter of support from their local MPO. For North Texas, the deadline for requesting a letter of support from NCTCOG is April 20.  Freese and Nichols attended the regional workshop and was successful in obtaining funding for some of our clients with the 2014 NCTCOG TAP Program.

TxDOT will also be posting a call for projects in the coming weeks for the 2015 Highway Safety Improvements Program (HSIP). Approximately $150 million is anticipated to be available statewide for this program (with 10 percent for off-system projects) focusing primarily on improving safety and reducing severe accidents. Freese and Nichols attended an informational meeting and is experienced in preparing this application for clients. The deadline for this opportunity is June 4. For more information, view the Highway Safety Improvement Program Manual.
