Engineering Excellence Silver Award

American Council of Engineering Companies of Texas

The Lake Alan Henry Water Supply Project won a Silver Medal in the Water and Wastewater category in the 2014 Engineering Excellence Awards from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Texas. Freese and Nichols worked on the project as a subconsultant to Parkhill, Smith & Cooper.

In the early 1990s, Freese and Nichols designed the John T. Montford Dam and Lake Alan Henry to provide a long-range water supply for the City of Lubbock. On the current project, starting in 2008, our team designed and oversaw construction of the transmission system to deliver raw water from the lake to Lubbock. That work included 50 miles of 42- and 48-inch diameter pipeline, a lake pump station rated for 36 million gallons a day (MGD), and a booster pump station in Post rated for 47 MGD.

Our team also performed the environmental and archaeological review and prepared the Environmental Information Document for the entire project, which included work completed by other firms: a water treatment plant, high-service pump station and treated-water line.
