Architecture and special guests toured the nearly completed Tarrant County College District Center of Excellence for Energy Technology on July 8. The complex will be the new home for the Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Technology (HART) program and house new associate degree programs in Oil and Gas and Renewable Energy.

The tour, led by Project Manager Allen McRee, included information about design, materials and sustainable design features. Once documentation is approved, this will be the fourth LEED project for our Architecture Group. Planning for the 87,000-square-foot project began in early 2010; design started in 2011 and construction broke ground in early 2014. The building will open for classes this August.

Staci Hill and David Smith from our Building Services Group were instrumental in helping TCC move the educational equipment from its current location into the new labs and classrooms. Staci and David developed color-coded plans that matched the colors of the moving labels on the equipment and boxes. This allowed for less confusion and a quicker move.

Scott Nevotti and David Payne, Construction Services, provided the construction administration for the project. Spencer Maxwell, Infrastructure, has prepared the design of the extension of the campus Loop Road adjacent to the project site to improve access and vehicular circulation.
