In an effort to be more transparent with the public, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) launched the Clean Water Act Jurisdictional Determination Website. This website allows the public to search for jurisdictional determinations (JD) that have been approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the EPA since August 28, 2015 using an interactive mapping tool and database. The tool also allows the user to filter the data by geographic location or USACE District and provides a link to the USACE’s Other Regulated Material (...

Five Freese and Nichols stormwater engineers have recently become Certified Floodplain Managers: Boris Minot and David Rivera in our Dallas office; Keith Byrne and Mark Pauls in our Fort Worth office; and Shelby Wiedrich in our Austin office. The USACE has released a new version of HEC-RAS that supersedes versions 5.0.1 and 5.0.2 (which was withdrawn due to major bugs). The new version fixes several bugs and includes new and improved features like culvert inlet/ outlet control, using 2D flow equations at lateral structures, flow and volume time series output for profile lines in RAS Mapper, and profile line point and tick marks.
