Barnard Volunteers for MathCounts

Clayton Barnard, Transmission and Utilities, Frisco, volunteered as a grader at the Texas State Mathcounts competitionearlier this year. Serving as the Finance Chair for the Preston Trail Chapter of Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE), Clayton works with local National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) chapters to support Mathcounts by organizing and volunteering for these events.

The Texas State competition, held in Irving this year, featured the state's top students from the local level. The four highest-scoring competitors and the top team advanced to the national competition this May in Washington, DC.

Mathcounts, founded by the NSPE, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the CNA Foundation, strives to engage middle school students of all ability and interest levels in fun, challenging math programs to expand their academic and professional opportunities. The competition has multiple levels, including local, state and national.
