Deadline June 3, 2013 - Renew TPDES Construction General Permit
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's (TCEQ's) new TPDES Stormwater Construction General Permit, which became effective March 5, 2013, has an imminent deadline to renew the permit of Monday, June 3, 2013. This permit affects construction sites that discharge stormwater associated with construction activity located in the state of Texas. All permits authorized under the previous general permit expired regardless as to whether or not a Notice of Termination was submitted. The TCEQ issued a message that included the following information about the permit renewal:
- Monday June 3rd is the deadline to renew permits for operators of large construction activities that have not reached final stabilization.
- An Application fee and Notice of Intent are required to obtain coverage under the new permit
- All operators of small construction activities must develop a new Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWP3) to address any new requirements applicable to their respective sites.
- Smaller construction activities are regulated under the CGP through a permit application and fee are not required.
The State of Texas Environmental Reporting System for Submitting Stormwater forms and payment will give operators immediate coverage. Visit www3.tceq.texas.gov/steers/ for information regarding creating an account.
Operators submitting a paper NOI by mail must use the revised form TCEQ 20022 available online here: http://www.tceq.texas.gov/assets/public/permitting/waterquality/forms/20022.pdf
