Let's Connect: Meet Our Recruiters

Soon our recruiters will head across the country for career fairs at local universities. Get to know the smiling faces at our booths.

Also, see where they'll be heading here.

Lauren Cowling

Alma mater: Texas Tech University, bachelor’s degree in business administration

How to stand out at a career fair: Research the company and career opportunities before the fair. Be confident. Good hygiene helps, too.

Weirdest thing I’ve ever seen at a career fair: I saw a girl taking glamour shots with her boyfriend while at the career fair. She had different poses: serious face, smiley face, etc.

First job: Receptionist at a salon

Weirdest thing someone has said to me at a career fair: Someone asked if we can bring our pets to work.

Best career advice I’ve been given: The real world won’t be easy, but if you love what you do, it’ll be worth it.

How to get on my good side: I love black coffee from Starbucks — and Snickers.

Alex Conner

Alma mater: Stephen F. Austin University, bachelor’s degree in child development and family living. I’m also currently working on my master of business administration with an emphasis in human resources management.

Weirdest thing someone has asked me at a career fair: I talked to a student who was passing out a friend’s resume because her friend was at work during the fair.

How to stand out at a career fair: It’s great to have questions prepared for the companies whose booths you’re visiting.

Weirdest thing I’ve ever seen at a career fair: Someone wearing shorts, flip-flops and a T-shirt. In their defense, the career fair was in a gym.

First job: I worked as a singer on a Texas State Railroad car. I had a stage name and everything. I got all kinds of weird requests, from Christmas songs in July to little girls wanting me to sing Miley Cyrus.

Best career advice I’ve been given: Be patient with yourself. Developing a career takes time. Don’t be afraid to step away from your comfort zone. Try new things, volunteer, get involved with a student group or find an internship. These are all great networking opportunities.

How to get on my good side: I love Coke Zero, and if you know any quotes from “The Office,” please share.
