Parks Volunteers at Dam During Floods

Now that Texas is recording triple digit temperatures, it's difficult to remember how much it rained in May without revisiting photos. Murphy Parks, Water Resources Design, Fort Worth, volunteered to help state agencies with dam monitoring in his wife's hometown after heavy Memorial Day rains.

The Gooch, Munday and Sanders dams in the Texas Panhandle town of Shamrock were experiencing flooding-related issues. Murphy helped the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) inspect and monitor the Gooch Dam, which is adjacent to a state highway, overnight. Sanders Dam had been completed just one week before the rain.
