TWDB to Hold Hearing on $6.8M Emergency Flood Funding

The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) will hold a public hearing on Dec. 14, 2015, to discuss distribution of $6.8 million in emergency flood funding. Gov. Gregg Abbott approved the funding for development of stream gages and floodplain management and planning technical assistance in November.

“The emergency transfer of these funds is imperative to our state’s future in preparing for flooding events,” said Governor Abbott. “It is critical that our state has sophisticated technology and enhanced floodplain planning in place to respond to emergency situations associated with flooding. These funds will assist the state in not only better preparing for floods, but being able to report accurate and timely information as it arises. I am confident that these funds will help to better protect the health, public safety, and economic prosperity of all Texans.”

Stakeholders and the general public are encouraged to attend and provide input on how to distribute the funds. If you are unable to attend, comments may be emailed to You may also watch the hearing through a live streaming broadcast on the Senate of Texas Live Broadcasts website. The broadcast will become available the day of the hearing.
