Two Projects Receive ENR Honors
Two projects on which Freese and Nichols has worked have been honored by Engineering News-Record in its Best of the Best Projects 2015 competition.
Best Airport Project
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport – Terminal A Phase II was named the Best of the Best in the Airport/Transit category. This project was part of the Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program (TRIP), a $3.2 billion overhaul of the airport's four original terminal buildings — A, B, C and E. The program is estimated to be completed in 2021; most recently, the second phase of Terminal B opened in March. Freese and Nichols has led program management of TRIP since 2010. Read the ENR article
Best Highway Project
North Tarrant Express – Segments 1 & 2W was named the Best of the Best in the Bridge/Highway category. To relieve congestion in one of North Texas' worst bottlenecks, this $2.05 billion project reconstructed 13 miles of highway along Northeast Loop 820 and Airport Freeway — adding four managed toll lanes, upgrading the main lanes and replacing 18 bridges. As a subconsultant to CSJ Engineering Associates, Freese and Nichols provided fast-track utility evaluation and relocation design services. Our team relocated 32 water and wastewater conflicts totaling nearly 15,000 linear feet in Hurst and Fort Worth. We are also performing similar work on North Tarrant Express Segment 3A, a $1.4 billion expansion project along Interstate 35W in Fort Worth. Read the ENR article
