Boots on the Ground in Brazoria County

Ron Bavarian

Brazoria County along with TxDOT have undertaken the task of improving traffic flow on the northern part of State Highway 288, by eventually constructing four Toll/Managed lanes in the middle of this major corridor south of Houston. TxDOT is managing the Harris County section of this project from Beltway 8 to US 59. Construction of both segments will start in first or second quarter of 2016.

We provided the fast-track design for a 1.7-mile, estimated $20 million segment of the county’s 5.2-miles of the project, which runs right by our Pearland office. The design included four-lane toll lanes, longitudinal and lateral storm system, widening of existing main lanes and ramps, ramps for the toll lanes, five detention ponds, the relocation of two U-turns at FM 518 bridge, and MSE wall relocation. The project also included design of CR 59 and FM 518 toll lanes bridges, H&H analysis and report, pavement marking and signage which were performed by a Freese and Nichols subcontractor.

The strength of our team was born from Freese and Nichols’ legacy of designing roads, highways and bridges in Texas since the 1890s. Learn more about how we can help with funding, planning, design, permitting, coordination and management of your transportation projects.
