Brooks Presenting at ASFPM

Katie Hogan

Lesley Brooks, P.E., CFM, ENV SP, Stormwater Engineer in Freese and Nichols’ Dallas office, is presenting at the Association of State Floodplain Managers 2015 Conference, taking place May 31-June 5 in Atlanta. Lesley’s presentation “Water Quality in Your Street Design” will be on Tuesday, June 2 at 11:30 a.m. as part of the ‘Stormwater Case Studies at the Street Level’ track. View her abstract below:

Our roadways and sidewalks make up 33 percent of the impervious area in our urban and suburban cities on average. This has a significant effect on the stormwater quantity and quality that enters our waterways. Texas may be the last place you think of when you think of progressive stormwater quality design, but Dallas is making the effort to reverse that trend and to reverse the water quality impact on their waterways.

This presentation will look at the slow but progressive changes occurring in the North Texas region, the outreach that has driven these changes, the programs, such as LID construction standards, that Dallas is putting into place in order to drive change, and case studies of how it’s effecting the way they build streets.

If you’re attending the conference, we hope you can join us for Lesley’s presentation.
