The State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) recently announced that funds for the LoanSTAR (Saving Taxes and Resources) revolving loan program will be available May 1, 2015. This program “finances energy-related cost-reduction retrofits for state, public school district, public college, public university and tax-district supported public hospital facilities.” SECO provides the funds in the form of low interest loans that borrowers can repay through the energy cost savings they will incur from their projects.

TxDOT has posted a call for projects for their 2015 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP). This program has made $52 million available statewide for projects focused on providing alternative means of transportation and is limited to areas with populations under 200,000 outside of urbanized areas. The deadline for this opportunity is May 4 – although areas within Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) boundaries need to request a letter of support from their local MPO. The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) recently posted a request for applications for the Flood Protection Planning Grant. Up to $900,000 has been initially authorized for this grant application cycle. Typical awards are in the $100,000 to $150,000 range.

This grant can be used to study watersheds in Texas. The study can include hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, public input, and the development of recommended strategies to address flooding.
