Freese and Nichols Hires Dan McKenzie to Lead Oil & Gas Group
Freese and Nichols welcomes new Oil and Gas Group Manager and Practice Leader Dan McKenzie, PE, a veteran of the oil and gas industry who has led a variety of multimillion dollar projects.
Dan has spent almost four decades developing broad and deep experience in gas processing, treating, gathering, compression design, construction, operation and optimization. He most recently was a regional engineering manager for a large firm engaged in gas gathering, treating, processing and distribution and in crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquid (NGL) transportation.
“Dan’s experience on the owner side of the industry will give us additional insights into clients’ needs so we can have an even better understanding of how to help them achieve their goals,” said Division Manager Kevin Johnson, who had been leading the practice.
Dan, who will be based in the Dallas office, has handled projects in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma and on the Upper Louisiana Gulf Coast. His accomplishments include:
- Training and overseeing engineers to manage large grassroots projects, such as cryogenic and treating facilities, compressor stations and pipelines
- Serving as a business development analyst and project manager for crude oil/petroleum product terminal and pipeline projects
- Managing all phases of engineering and construction for three large gas gathering/compression systems in the United States (Anadarko Basin, San Juan Basin and Giddings Austin Chalk), including treatment and processing
- Developing large, efficient well-tie programs, building cross-country pipelines, and developing GIS and mapping programs
He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
