Funding Team Expands to Enhance Client Success

Freese and Nichols welcomes Lacy Fenn, who joins the Denton office as a funding specialist.

Lacy said that after 14 years in academia she looks forward to new challenges in the private sector and to continuing her passion for lifelong learning. As a funding specialist, Lacy will assist our clients with securing grants and loans for their infrastructure needs.

“In my previous role, I would assist professors and students with grant funding requests, and so when I saw this opportunity, I thought it would be great to pivot and learn something new,” Lacy said. “And if you’re helping these projects get the funding they need, it’s like being a part of making our community better.”

Lacy will be the newest addition to the funding team, which in 2024 plans to work more closely with planning groups to identify funding needs and solutions ahead of project development. Client Funding Lead Mark Evans said Lacy will be key to continuing our funding efforts in water and infrastructure. She’ll also help expand funding expertise and assistance in our national markets.

“We want our clients to be informed on funding possibilities and for FNI to be known as subject matter experts in a wide variety of funding programs for water, wastewater, stormwater and transportation,” Mark said.

Lacy comes to the team from the University of North Texas, where she was assistant director of research communications.

“Her passion for helping her community and our clients is going to bring great things,” Mark said.

Lacy is currently working on a master’s degree in data analytics at UNT. She has a master’s in mass communication and bachelor’s in English and Journalism from Chadron State College.
