Phyllis J. Tilley Memorial Pedestrian Bridge Wins ACEC Texas Gold
The Phyllis J. Tilley Memorial Pedestrian Bridge has won a 2013 Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Texas. On Monday, Nov. 26, ACEC Texas announced the project would receive a Gold Medal in the Structural Systems category; awards will be presented at the Council's annual awards gala April 12. The project will be entered in the national competition, the ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards.
The bridge, which spans the Trinity River near downtown Fort Worth, opened in August. It is the first arch-supported stress ribbon bridge in the United States and is designed to withstand a 500-year flood.
