Nichols Legacy Featured in Texas Water Planning Video

Ron Lemons

The H2O4Texas coalition has produced a video highlighting the history of water planning in Texas, from the 1950s drought to the passage of Proposition 6 in 2013, and its impact on future planning efforts. The six-minute video, titled Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, credits Freese and Nichols, Chairman Emeritus Jim Nichols and President Emeritus Bob Nichols for their support and cooperation.

The video opens with Jim Nichols speaking about his father, Marvin Nichols, who was appointed as the first Chairman of the Texas Water Development Board in 1957. It features historical photos of Marvin Nichols, including a recently discovered photo of Gov. Price Daniel swearing in the first Board. Current TWDB Chairman Carlos Rubinstein and state Sen. Troy Fraser follow Jim, speaking about the past, present and future of Texas water planning.

The video debuted at the H2O4Texas 2014 Conference in September and has just been made public. View the video below or online.
