Texas Municipal League
The Elm Fork Athletic Complex was honored with the 2014 Municipal Excellence Award in the category of Public Works, Cities Over 25,000, by the Texas Muncipal League.
Freese and Nichols' comprehensive team of environmental, stormwater, water quality and master planning professionals developed the Elm Fork Athletic Complex Master Plan to redevelop a closed landfill and provide the City of Dallas with new high quality soccer fields. The 160-acre master-planned park will be built around championship caliber soccer fields and features picnic areas, playgrounds, trails, and re-established natural vegetation.
The facility incorporates sustainable design concepts, including stormwater quality, rainwater harvesting, wastewater recycling, and the use of recycled material for construction. The City of Dallas hosted games for the world-class Dallas Cup at the complex in April 2014, welcoming visitors, fans and youth soccer players from 100 countries.
