Freese and Nichols was contracted to reconstruct and widen Airport Road, an existing two-lane asphalt roadway from the newly constructed John King Boulevard to FM 3549 in Rockwall, Texas. The existing roadway also had two sharp ninety-degree turns which were a safety concern. The proposed roadway is a four-lane undivided curb and gutter roadway with underground drainage and smooth turning radii. The project also included work for intersecting residential streets which consisted of the reconstruction of Indian Trail and the widening of Amity Lane. New waterlines, services and fire protection were installed along all of the roadways during the time of pavement replacement. The right-of-way coordination was extensive on this project due to the many homes, utilities and the Rockwall airport situated alongside the roadway.
