Freese and Nichols updated the City’s Bicycle Plan, incorporating the City’s Mobility Plan network and typical sections prioritizing 200 miles of on-street and off-street facilities. Freese and Nichols recommended modifications to many of the Plan's sections and suggested changes to certain roadway classifications, updated design standards and provided cost estimates and funding opportunities. Freese and Nichols recommended immediate, short-term and long-term actions.
The project required extensive public involvement including interfacing with the Bicycle Plan focus group to promote a dialogue with local advocacy groups and facilitate implementation of recommendations and future partnerships. Freese and Nichols held five meetings with a 12-member focus group, two public meetings, and several briefings to Denton ISD, City Planning and Zoning Commission and individual Council members.
