For this project, Freese and Nichols conducted an investigation/study- including analysis of design flows, equipment and hydraulics- and provided preliminary design, final design and construction phase services for the new Influent Pump Station (IPS) to enhance peak wet weather flow management.
Stage 1 of the IPS will produce a firm pumping capacity of 335 MGD. At Phase 1 completion, the IPS will be the largest capacity-based and deepest-set Vertical Turbine Solids Handling (VTSH) installation in the United States. The future Stage 2 IPS will provide a maximum hydraulic capacity of 465 MGD.
The project also includes screens, an electrical building and associated electrical and instrumentation equipment, transformer yard for generators, a bio-filter complex for odor abatement, 72-inch and 90-inch yard piping, valves, and metering.
