Freese and Nichols provided design and environmental services for this 1.3-mile major roadway reconstruction from Avenue E to U.S. 90A. Also included in the project were intersection improvements at S.H. 6, Cartwright and Lexington. The project consisted of the reconstruction of a four-lane and five-lane asphalt roadway. The new roadway includes storm sewers, signals, traffic control plans, pavement marking and signage, sidewalks, H/H analysis, ROW parcel takings, utility coordination, and limited landscape and irrigation design. The improvements at the S.H. 6, Cartwright and Lexington intersections included new signal systems and widening of the intersections to add lane capacity.
An environmental document was prepared due to the project’s impacts on S.H. 6, a TxDOT Roadway. It was prepared to TxDOT requirements. Freese and Nichols also conducted all field surveys and wrote all sections of the environmental document.
