Freese and Nichols provided design and construction phase design engineer services for the City of Pearland’s Kirby Water Treatment Plant. The overall project scope consisted of a water plant and 16-inch water transmission line along Broadway from Half Moon Bay to west of Kirby Drive, and included coordination with CenterPoint and Brazoria Drainage District #4 (BDD#4).
Among other components, the water plant consists of a 1,500-GPM water well, 1-MG pre-stressed concrete ground storage tank, 1-MG composite elevated storage tank, booster pumps, controls, auxiliary generator, and site work. Site work included yard piping, drainage pipes, concrete roadway and a detention pond and outfall into a BDD#4 ditch.
A 16-inch transmission line is connected to an existing 12-inch line on Kirby Drive. The approximately 2,300 feet of 16-inch transmission line on Broadway connects two ends of existing 16-inch lines at Half Moon Bay and a line close to the Kirby Drive intersection.
