Freese and Nichols conducted a drainage study to decrease localized flooding without adversely affecting the study area and nearby Boggy Creek. Freese and Nichols used 2D dynamic modeling software to evaluate existing and proposed hydrologic and hydraulic conditions and to recommend alternative solutions that meet City criteria. Team members solicited input from stakeholders familiar with drainage issues to affirm hydraulic results and prepared a video assessment of the existing infrastructure’s condition. Freese and Nichols also evaluated three City-selected water-quality proprietary systems, including the collection of manufacturers’ information and solicitation of other municipalities on the long-term maintenance and performance of the systems.
This project was awarded third place in Freese and Nichols’ 2012 Innovator of the Year Awards and received a Special Recognition Award from the Texas Floodplain Managers Association in 2013.
