For improvements to the South Sycamore Street pump station, Freese and Nichols designed a 3.8-MGD treated booster pump station, a 1-MG elevated storage tank and two miles of a 16-inch distribution water main. Work included complex piping connections to existing pump stations and two on-site ground storage tanks, as well as flow meter and altitude control meter vault assemblies. The project also included multi-disciplined coordination for the pump station and chemical feed systems for a chloramine injection system. The elevated storage tank is equipped with System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) enhancements for easy control and data-recording of the tank’s system.
A 50% matching Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant was obtained by the City for the construction improvements.
