Freese and Nichols designed this $90-million project and provided construction contract administration and resident project representation services. This project was designed to move water from Lake Tawakoni to a future water treatment plant northeast of Terrell, Texas and send raw water ultimately to Lake Lavon by tying this project to the North Texas Municipal Water District's East Fork Pipeline.
Due to drought conditions, the project was put on a fast-track schedule for design and construction to alleviate water restrictions as quickly as possible. Freese and Nichols completed the alignment study, survey and design within ten months, and the team was able to meet the owner's required schedule and budget.
Major project components included:
75-MGD Intake and Lake Pump Station at Lake Tawakoni
10 miles of 60-inch pipeline
75-MGD Intermediate Pump Station
20 miles of 54-inch pipeline
North Texas Municipal Water District
