Freese and Nichols provided design phase services for the City of Webster’s wastewater treatment plant expansion and rehabilitation. The 1.65-MGD expansion also included discharge permit assistance, topographical survey, bid and negotiations, and construction representation as needed.
This project was the fourth phase in a long-term relationship with the City. Phase 4 implemented and Phase 3 continued with plan completion and specifications for the 1.65-MGD plant expansion. This expansion included additional aeration basins, clarifiers, new digester/thickener, process air, dewatering facilities and other related structural, mechanical and electrical components. Additionally, a telemetry system was designed for the entire plant.
Phase 2, including design, construction management and inspection of an EPA-funded 1.1-MGD wastewater treatment plant with a 0.55-MGD expansion, consisted of a complete-mix plant design with the associated structural, mechanical and electrical components including a belt-press unit design for sludge handling. The project required familiarity with EPA and state requirements.
