Forecast at Your Fingertips

In the spring of 2015, after years of record-breaking drought, massive rains brought much-needed relief to much of the Southwest. Municipalities and agencies suddenly had to pivot from critical water supply issues to critical drainage and flooding issues. To serve clients amid the changing conditions, Freese and Nichols developed an online tool that displays multiday precipitation forecasts for any location in the United States. Based on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Quantitative Precipitation Forecasts, the rainfall prediction map is the only version of this dataset that is scalable for individual users without the use of GIS. All you need is a web browser; check it out at clients.freese.com/precip
