TWDB Approves $42M in Funding for Client City of Cleburne

On Monday, the Texas Water Development Board approved $42 million in financial assistance to help the City of Cleburne meet future wastewater treatment capacity and water supply needs.

The funding, from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, consists of a $41 million loan and $1 million in loan forgiveness. The City will use the assistance to finance planning, acquisition, design and construction costs associated with wastewater and reuse system improvements. In addition to the loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $8.4 million by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

With the assistance approved, the City will increase the wastewater treatment facility’s overall treatment and reuse capacity for both indirect potable reuse and direct nonpotable reuse.

Freese and Nichols Project Manager Nick Landes, left, and Funding Specialist Mark Evans, right, helped the City with applications, including justification for the Green Project Reserve grant. Freese and Nichols is also leading the design and construction phases of the project.
