TWDB Approves $42M in Funding for Client City of Cleburne
On Monday, the Texas Water Development Board approved $42 million in financial assistance to help the City of Cleburne meet future wastewater treatment capacity and water supply needs.
The funding, from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, consists of a $41 million loan and $1 million in loan forgiveness. The City will use the assistance to finance planning, acquisition, design and construction costs associated with wastewater and reuse system improvements. In addition to the loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $8.4 million by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.
With the assistance approved, the City will increase the wastewater treatment facility’s overall treatment and reuse capacity for both indirect potable reuse and direct nonpotable reuse.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control and agricultural water conservation projects.
