TWDB Water/Wastewater Funding Cycle is Right around the Corner

Jennifer Wasinger

The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) provides multiple, low-interest loan and grant funding opportunities for municipal water/wastewater infrastructure, stormwater, green infrastructure and energy efficiency projects. With the addition of the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas, TWDB now has a total of 15 distinct funding programs and has made $19 billion worth of investments in Texas communities. TWDB program rates are often more attractive than those most entities can obtain on the open market!

Over the last two years, the TWDB has made a concerted effort to streamline all of their programs, making them easier and less burdensome for those who wish to take advantage of them. New online applications, reduced reporting requirements, consolidated compliance forms and the willingness to consider the use of city documents in lieu of TWDB forms make the programs more appealing. TWDB has also developed a loan finance calculator, which estimates the potential interest savings when compared to traditional bond financing.

With SWIFT and SRF applications due in early 2016, TWDB is hosting 13 workshops across Texas in December and January to provide updates on the funding cycles and changes to the application forms/requirements, as well as to demonstrate the new Online Application System. Additionally, the TWDB regional teams will be at each workshop and available to answer project specific questions. To register for the workshops, please send your name, title, entity, email, telephone contact information and workshop location you are planning to attend to
