Two National Honors for Vidaurri
Congratulations to Alfred Vidaurri, who was honored at an investiture ceremony on Friday, May 15 at the American Institute of Architects Convention 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia. Alfred was elevated to the AIA College of Fellows, a program recognizing those “who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession.” AIA explains that “election to Fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of the architect as an individual, but also honors before the public and the profession a model architect who has made a significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level.”
Alfred walked across the stage to receive his medal at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church where the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. preached.
He was also elected to the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) at the Annual Business Meeting in New Orleans in June. NCARB is made up of the architectural registration boards of all 50 states and the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The organization assists member registration boards and offers a certification program for architects. Alfred received the 2014 President’s Medal for Distinguished Service from the organization.
