Weber and Risko Launch COPRI Chapter

Juan Moya

Cris Weber and Tony Risko, Austin, Coastal Services, have helped launch the first Texas-based chapter of the Coasts, Oceans, Ports, and Rivers Institute (COPRI). The chapter is based in Houston and will become the catalyst for development of a comprehensive Texas Chapter.

Created in 2000, COPRI is an institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). COPRI’s services are designed to complement ASCE’s traditional civil engineering base and attract non-engineering allied professionals who seek to enhance their professional and technical development.

In the initial programming development stage for the Chapter, Cris has been named the Vice Chair and Tony has been named the Membership Committee Chair. They will both contribute to the Newsletter and Publishing Committee as co-chairs. The chapter is in the process of developing an inaugural fall conference program to showcase Texas projects directly related to the primary interests of COPRI: coastal engineering, navigation and waterways, port facilities expansion, and inter-tidal riverine projects.
