Women’s Center of Tarrant County Honors FNI Staff Member

Cindy Milrany

The staff of the Women’s Center of Tarrant County joined Freese and Nichols and friends to honor Melody Allen, Senior Administrative Assistant, on Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Center. Melody, who has served as FNI’s wish list coordinator for the Center since 2004, was lauded for 12 years of motivating donations of needed items, including school supplies, grooming items, teddy bears and clothing. Women’s Center President Laura Hilgart and Development Director Chrisee Huffman presented Melody with a framed certificate of appreciation and a silver heart paperweight. Melody is the first person outside of Women’s Center staff to receive the paperweight.

Women Center officials and volunteers, including Linda and Bob Herchert, recounted stories of women and children whose lives have been changed by Center programs. Melody herself shared that her motivation for the annual Teddy Bear Round-Up comes from the statement by a rape victim that she still has the stuffed bear that she received from the Center.

The Women’s Center building, which opened in 2009, was designed by Freese and Nichols.
