The March issue of Texas Town & City, the Texas Municipal League’s monthly magazine, features guidance for cities on Texas’ new flood planning process.

The Texas Water Development Board is finalizing rules for allocating an initial $793 million in new state funding for grants to communities that otherwise could not afford to make flood-related repairs or build mitigation infrastructure. TWDB also is responsible for gearing up a new process for developing regional and statewide flood plans using the model that Texas has successfully used for water planning.

The article was authored by City of Denton Floodplain Administrator Noreen Housewright, along with Freese and Nichols North Texas Stormwater Group Manager Scott Hubley and Senior Advisor Chris Johnson.
