Freese and Nichols Establishes Jason Crawley Memorial Scholarship

We are honored to announce that Freese and Nichols, in partnership with Texas Tech University, has established the Jason Crawley Memorial Scholarship Endowment to celebrate Jason’s legacy. The endowment will be through Texas Tech’s Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering in the Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering Department.

Jason prided himself on sharing his energy and expertise with younger staff, students and peers across the industry through his involvement with Texas Tech, professional groups and other avenues. In addition to his work at FNI, Jason also served as an adjunct professor for Texas Tech’s Master of Environmental Engineering capstone course. Early in his career, he chaired the Water Environment Association of Texas (WEAT) Student Design Competition and Young Professionals (YP) Committee and served as YP representative on the WEAT Board. In 2014, WEAT named him its Emerging Leader. Most recently, Jason served as the head Safety Competition Judge for the Water Environment Federation’s (WEF) National Operations Challenge Competition after more than 10 years of judging state and national-level safety competitions. He was highly regarded nationally by WEF leadership and by plant operators from across the U.S.

A Texas Tech Red Raider and treatment engineer, Jason spent his entire 15-year career at Freese and Nichols but sadly passed away on Sept. 28, 2023. He would have been 41 on Feb. 23, 2024.

It is in this spirit that the endowment will provide financial assistance to a deserving student who embodies the values and spirit that Jason exemplified. We hope to honor Jason’s memory and continue his legacy of making a positive impact in the lives of others.
