Hyunsik Moon Joins Freese and Nichols to Lead Bridge Services Team
After beginning his career at Freese and Nichols, Hyunsik Moon, PE, has returned to lead our Bridge Services team out of our Fort Worth office. With 17 years of bridge work under his belt, Hyunsik brings extensive experience in bridge design, inspection and rehabilitation, helping to strengthen and expand our firm’s bridge capabilities.
Hyunsik has spent almost a decade managing large-scale, high-profile bridge projects for a wide range of clients — including federal and state agencies, such as TxDOT and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers — and will use his expertise and insights gained to look for opportunities to continuously improve and find outside-the-box solutions for our clients.
He also brings a deep understanding of collaborative delivery methods, having worked on a variety of design-build highway projects across Texas that required collaboration with large, multidisciplinary teams. Some examples include the I-35 Northeast Expansion (Central) in San Antonio and the I-2 and I-69 Interchange in the Rio Grande Valley.
“I’m really excited to have Hyunsik back and about the things he’s bringing to the team,” says Structural Group Manager Misty Thomison. “He brings all of the FNI values — he grew up here, so he knows them, and he embodies them.”
Hyunsik began his career at Freese and Nichols after graduating from New Mexico State University with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering. As a young structural engineer, he focused primarily on municipal bridge design and inspection projects.
