Integrated Planning for Midwest City’s Future

Midwest City, Oklahoma, is taking bold steps to shape its future with an ambitious, integrated planning effort. The City is developing a Wastewater Master Plan, Stormwater Master Plan, Comprehensive Plan, Water Master Plan, Groundwater Master Plan, Water Resource Recovery Facility Master Plan and a Public Works Facility Master Plan. These are coordinated initiatives working together to strengthen infrastructure, guide growth and define a unified vision for the community. The collaborative approach positions Midwest City to meet today’s needs while preparing for a resilient, thriving tomorrow.

The Wastewater Master Plan assesses and upgrades the City’s collection and treatment systems to meet current demands and support future growth and development. The plan identifies infrastructure improvements, capacity enhancements and system upgrades that boost efficiency, reduce risks and maintain compliance with environmental standards. By planning ahead for population growth, the City is creating a clear, cost-effective path to reliable wastewater service for years to come.

The Stormwater Master Plan focuses on reducing flood risk and improving stormwater management across the community. Through watershed studies, floodplain mapping and prioritized infrastructure projects, the plan enhances drainage, protects properties, and promotes public safety. It also advances sustainability through green infrastructure and innovative stormwater practices that deliver long-term environmental and economic value.

Meanwhile, the Comprehensive Plan sets the direction for land use, economic development, transportation and community growth. It aligns policy and investment decisions with the findings of the wastewater and stormwater plans, integrating infrastructure and development strategies to move forward together. This coordination supports strategic growth, attracts investment= and enhances quality of life for residents.

What truly sets Midwest City apart is its integrated approach. By developing these plans in tandem, the City is breaking down silos and achieving greater impact through collaboration. Each plan informs the others, creating a shared foundation for infrastructure, land use and sustainability decisions.

Midwest City is building a stronger, more connected community, ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the future.
