OWRB Wastewater Funding Cycle Open

Jennifer Wasinger

The Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) provides multiple, low-interest loan and grant funding opportunities for municipal water/wastewater infrastructure, stormwater, green infrastructure and energy efficiency projects. As of January 1, 2016, OWRB has approved more than 2,000 loans and grants totaling over $3 billion. OWRB program rates are often more attractive than those most entities can obtain on the open market!

The Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) is one of OWRB’s low-interest loan programs offering loan terms at 40 percent below market rates. The program can fund traditional wastewater projects, such as inflow/infiltration correction and sewer replacement/rehabilitation while also funding stormwater, water efficiency and water reuse related projects.

To be eligible for CWSRF consideration, wastewater systems must submit a Project Priority List request and questionnaire. Requests received on or before March 1, 2016 will be ranked based for the SFY 2017 Funding Cycle. Priority points will be given for projects that are listed in the Water for 2060 Initiative, including water reuse, conservation and efficiency. Additional consideration will be provided to projects that are “ready to proceed” and located in “Hot Spot” Basin, as listed in the Oklahoma Comprehensive Water Plan.
