Shad Comeaux Appointed to Pearland Planning and Zoning Commission
Shad Comeaux has been appointed by the Pearland City Council to Position 4 on the City’s Planning and Zoning Commission. The appointment places him in a key volunteer role that helps guide the future growth and development of one of the Houston area’s fastest-growing communities.
Pearland has evolved significantly in recent decades, becoming a vibrant city known for its strong economy, welcoming neighborhoods and commitment to sustainable development. As growth continues, the City relies on thoughtful planning and zoning to preserve its quality of life and support responsible, long-term progress.
The Planning and Zoning Commission plays a central role in that process. The Commission reviews and recommends actions on zoning changes, land use decisions, subdivision plats and long-range planning efforts that shape Pearland’s development.
Shad brings a strong blend of experience and community focus to the role. At Freese and Nichols, he has guided comprehensive plans, small area plans and campus master plans for higher education clients. He has also presented to numerous city councils and planning commissions, giving him a clear understanding of how planning decisions move from concept to action. His appointment allows him to apply that same insight within his own community.
“This is something I’m truly passionate about. After completing Leadership Pearland and thinking about how I could give back to the community, serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission feels like a natural fit,” Shad said. “It’s an opportunity to contribute to an area I care deeply about, helping Pearland continue to grow in a way that’s thoughtful, sustainable and community-focused.”
Shad holds a master’s degree in City and regional planning from the University of Texas at Arlington. His academic foundation, combined with his professional planning experience, positions him to support Pearland’s long-term vision and contribute meaningfully to discussions about growth, design and community priorities
