Freese and Nichols Expands Expertise in Southeast Division

Freese and Nichols is expanding the Transmission and Utilities teams in our North Carolina, Georgia and South Carolina offices with the hiring of Stephen Kridel, Michael Allison, Gabriella Vertreese, Kathleen Tedder, Landon Gregory and Caitlyn Haponik. The collaborative framework between these offices promotes the sharing of expertise and enables the team to deliver quality service.

 

 

Stephen joins the Raleigh, North Carolina office, bringing a strong interdisciplinary background in mechanical and civil engineering. Stephen has nine years of experience in mechanical design and product development through roles at Collins Aerospace, Bosch and GE Appliances.

Michael joins the team in our Winston-Salem, North Carolina office. His hands-on experience includes environmental consulting with Trinity Consultants and shoreline restoration with Wetlands Watch and the City of Norfolk, Virginia. Micheal is currently completing his bachelor’s degree in biological systems engineering at Virginia Tech, where his coursework focuses on watershed hydrology, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), fluid mechanics and environmental engineering.

Gabriella joins the Charlotte, North Carolina office with experience through her internship with Agri-Waste Technology, Inc., as well as through global water, sanitation and hygiene research in Malawi. She is completing her bachelor’s degree in biological engineering at North Carolina State University.

Kathleen joins the team as a Building Information Modeling (BIM)/Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Designer II in Raleigh with over three decades of experience in civil design and CAD production. She has specialized in AutoCAD and Civil 3D design, supporting water and wastewater infrastructure projects with companies like WithersRavenel, ARCADIS G&M, Inc., Ellinwood Design Associates and Alpha Design Group, Inc.

Landon joins the team in our Greenville, South Carolina office. His experience includes water infrastructure inspection, GPS field verification and civil site design with Summit Engineering Group, Inc., Greenville Water and Arbor Land Design. Landon is completing his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina.

Caitlyn joins the Atlanta, Georgia office, bringing a strong academic and practical background in environmental engineering from Georgia Tech University. Her experience includes internships with Honda and Aulick Engineering, where she worked on environmental compliance, wastewater treatment and erosion control projects. Caitlyn has also led sustainability-focused research and design initiatives, including hydroponic contamination studies and greenhouse construction using recycled materials.
