Scott Young Expands Transportation Expertise in Central Plains
Scott Young, PE, has joined Freese and Nichols as a senior transportation advisor, bringing nearly two decades of experience delivering transportation infrastructure projects. Based in our Oklahoma City office, Scott will support communities across Freese and Nichols’ Central Plains region, which includes Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri.
Scott’s experience spans bridges, roadway, rail, utility and environmental projects, giving him a broad understanding of the technical, financial and delivery challenges communities face when planning and implementing transportation infrastructure.
“Scott brings extensive transportation experience that will strengthen our team and create value for our clients,” Group Manager Kayla Burd said.
Throughout his career, Scott has worked closely in the public sector to address complex transportation challenges. More recently, he expanded his work beyond engineering to help communities pursue funding for critical infrastructure improvements.
“[It’s been] one of the things I never expected to do as an engineer,” Scott said. “Being able to help address funding challenges while still delivering practical, cost-effective engineering solutions has been incredibly meaningful.”
At Freese and Nichols, Scott will draw on that experience to help advance transportation projects for communities across the region. He also looks forward to mentoring and developing the next generation of transportation professionals.
“I’ve always valued the opportunity to teach and mentor others,” Scott said. “Throughout my career, I benefited from great mentors who helped shape my path. Being able to share my experiences and help others grow in their careers is something that really energizes me, and it’s a contribution I’m excited to bring to Freese and Nichols.”
Scott earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
