Veteran S.C. Executive Joins Freese and Nichols to Manage Southeast Expansion

Jason Eppley, a veteran engineering executive and past Chair of the American Council of Engineering Companies of South Carolina (ACEC-SC) is Freese and Nichols’ new Assistant Division Manager for the Southeast U.S. A year after opening our first South Carolina office in Greenville, Jason’s arrival represents our ongoing growth and presence in the Palmetto State.

With 30 years of experience in the engineering industry, Jason, a South Carolina native and Clemson University alumnus, is recognized for his contributions to both local communities and the profession.  Before joining Freese and Nichols, he spent more than 29 years at Davis & Floyd, a 150-employee engineering company based in South Carolina. He began his career there as a structural engineer and spent his final decade as chief operating officer, overseeing daily operations and the company’s six offices.

“He is engaged in the engineering community and is very well respected for his leadership and commitment to South Carolina,” said Tricia Hatley, Freese and Nichols Executive Vice President of Operations. “We’re really excited about Jason joining our team and helping us grow Freese and Nichols’ footprint.”

Our firm is expanding its footprint in South Carolina at a pivotal time. As one of the fastest-growing states in the country, South Carolina is experiencing a boom in new residents and businesses. With that comes the need for water, wastewater and transportation infrastructure to accommodate growth.

Now in our 131st year of operation, Freese and Nichols offers clients national expertise, award-winning solutions and client-focused support through each phase of the project cycle, including planning, designing and managing infrastructure projects. Our teams live and work in the communities we serve.

In line with our LEADS value to deliver quality, Jason said he looks forward to expanding Freese and Nichols’ presence across his home state, expanding our regional transportation practice and supporting the facilities team. He brings expertise designing and managing new construction, renovations, and expansions for projects such as treatment plants, hospitals, libraries, law enforcement centers, schools, university housing, federal and military sites across the Carolinas, Georgia and the Southeast U.S.

Jason is most excited about connecting with, building relationships, and collaborating with clients to bring successful projects to life. Throughout his career, he’s found that clients all want the same thing: relationships with consultants “they can trust to help them solve the challenges they face in their unique situations, a trusted advisor, someone who puts the public first.” Engineers are naturally problem solvers, driven to help their clients, a commitment Jason says he upholds with a focus on delivering with quality.

A registered PE in the Carolinas and Georgia and a registered structural engineer in Georgia, Jason is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and is actively involved with South Carolina ACEC. He is a former ACEC-SC chair/president, board member, executive committee member and Future Leaders program graduate. Jason earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in civil/structural engineering, both from Clemson University.
