Construction Management Expands with Two New Hires in the Central Plains

Please welcome Wendy Martin and Brian Swayze, who recently joined the Construction Management group in the Central Plains division.

Wendy joins Freese and Nichols with over 28 years of experience in the design and construction industries.

“What I enjoy about my work is being able to collaborate with different stakeholders and come together to find a solution that works out best for the community,” Wendy said.

During her career, she has gained extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, having worked for both private construction companies and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT).

“Wendy has already shown great initiative in improving our processes, learning our procedures and will undoubtedly help lead our construction management team to another level,” said Paul Green, Group Manager, Oklahoma City.

Wendy has a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma State University. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and golfing.

Brian joins FNI as a construction manager with 12 years of experience. Having spent most of his career with ODOT, Brian is looking forward to the new challenges offered by FNI.

All of my favorite projects have been high profile and extremely challenging” Brian said. Among my favorite projects is the $261 million Gilcrease Expressway expansion in Tulsa, the Oklahoma Highway 9 and I-35 interchange in Norman, and the $115 million Turner Turnpike.

Brian says what really sold him on a career move to FNI was working with Paul Green.

“I was just an inspector at ODOT and Paul was the director of operations, but he made me feel just as important as he was,” Brian said. “Fast forward seven years and we’re working together on the Turner Turnpike and he’s still this great guy; I was excited by the opportunity to work for him.”

“Brian has a great grasp on technology, agency processes and procedures and will do a great job training our group as well.,” Paul said.

Outside of work, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids and prides himself on being a family man.

“FNI is very fortunate to bring Wendy and Brian on board,” Paul said. “We are excited to have them on our growing team and look forward to the great success they will bring to the Central Plains team.”
