GLO Seeks Input to Help Shape Texas Mitigation Action Plan

The Texas General Land Office needs your input to help develop the upcoming Texas Mitigation Action Plan.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded Texas $4.383 billion in Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery funds for mitigation activities related to the 2015 and 2016 floods and Hurricane Harvey. HUD rules detailing Texas’ program and allocation requirements will be published in a Federal Register notice in the coming months. Since 2015, 140 Texas counties have received a Presidential disaster declaration. Click here for a list of the eligible 2015 counties, and here for a list of the eligible 2016 counties.

The Texas General Land Office needs to hear from you about your community’s current state of resiliency and proposed mitigation projects that will enhance resiliency. Through an online survey, the GLO is requesting feedback on the mitigation needs and challenges facing Texas’ affected communities.

Your participation is important because the GLO will consider this information when developing the Texas Mitigation Action Plan. This plan will be the guideline on how these billions of dollars will be spent in Texas. The plan will outline what types of activities will be funded, who will receive those funds and how much will be made available to each locality at each activity. However, completing the survey doesn’t guarantee allocation of funds nor is it required to receive funding.
